Do you ever have those days where everything pisses you off? Today was one of those days. My mom rubbed my arm when I woke up and it pissed me off. My dad bought 2% milk instead of skim and it pissed me off. I was alive and it pissed me off.
So, I was sitting out front being pissed off at the world, when this chick comes up to me. She wasn't hot, but she was nowhere near ugly. She asked if I used to go to Harris High and I said yeah. She said she remembered me as the kid with the awesome hat. I think she was referring to the time I had forgotten to shower and so I wore this beanie with cat ears on it all

Another day, another doctor's appointment. They say I'm getting better, that my body is accepting the liver, that I can get up and walk around without worrying about jostling my insides.
So, I've been walking around the neighborhood all day. My mom told me not to over do it. How can you over do walking? Even old ladies can walk. It felt good to be outside. A stray dog followed me around for a little bit. When we came across this other guy, the only other person walking around at that time of day, the dog growled and ran away.

Creating Dynamic CharactersWe've all read it, and we've all written it: a character who simply falls flat on the page. Sure, they're your baby, but after a while, you realize what everyone is saying is true. They're a cardboard cut out, a description of flowing tresses without a soul. And no matter how beautiful your leading lady or how dashing your hero, no one will care if they fall off a cliff and die unless they built a connection with them. Sure, you can pity a paper doll, but you empathize with a character because of what's inside them that makes them human (or dragon or space alien). You have to give them a soul.
